Due to new features like GPS and other systems that come on smartphones, they have been upgraded over the years with chips that come pre-installed with things that most researchers buy as separate tools. It’s always nice to have the additional tools, but when starting out… you don’t have to!
We will start with our favorite, GhostTube. This company has three separate apps, and we recommend downloading all of them. You can switch between them, or have one person in your group responsible for each one.
The regular GhostTube app uses your device’s internal sensors to detect fluctuations in the magnetic energy all around you. Any spirits are able to select words from a populated data bank, and the app reads those out loud as well as stores them. It’s basically a free version of an Ovilus. One thing to remember, once the screen is full of words, take a screenshot! It only holds so many before it starts dropping off the bottom ones. We’ve lost evidence and learned this the hard way.
You’ve seen the Kinect SLS cameras on the shows… the one that shows the stick figures? GhostTube SLS is the app version. Certain Apple devices are equipped with LiDAR. Otherwise, the app uses the dual depth-sensing lenses from the camera itself. It also comes with low-light filters, enabling you to switch to various camera modes, including thermal and infrared, depending on your phone’s internal capabilities. We have Iphone 7’s and 11’s, and were able to utilize all camera modes.
GhostTube VOX is the newest addition to the group. Like GhostTube, it enables communication with spirits. However, while the original app functions like an Ovilus, VOX is meant to be utilized like a SpiritBox. With a sound synthesizer, echo and reverb controls, white noise generator, and sound visualizer, VOX allows you to customize your SpiritBox generator to the levels you prefer, while the audio recorder let’s you capture and replay any evidence for later review.
They also have a new app, called GhostTube Seer, but it uses AI to make ghost ‘images’ and interpret what it can see from your device to create its evidence. Obviously, we don’t see a use for that in our investigations, so we don’t utilize that particular app as we prefer our evidence to not be AI assisted.
